I don't personally think you should run hero armies in any scenario due to the expense that could be. Who you should befriend for tactical reasons is based on several things, your race and secret tech, and which, if any, mods of theirs you want, and what kind of army you intend to field (such as if you want a mostly cyborg army for synthesis because you're assembly paragon can work since they're all cyborgs, but you wouldn't really want psi fish or the growth) None are so bad that they have no race/tech combo they don't work with at all, they all work well with at least 1.
The non major factions don't join you as far as I'm aware, they can become your allies however and will attack enemy armies if they happen to see them, but they won't actively seek and destroy them. By that I mean the npc cities of the playable races, with influence you can ask them to join you (which becomes harder/impossible depending on your relation with their race) and either make a colonizer or keep the city as yours. I don't believe you "integrate" npc factions besides independent ones. Any interesting combos I should give a shot with? That said, I really like the Promethean tech but I feel like it doesn't work with Amazon and I don't quite understand the Xenoplague mechanics. Amazon was my first game and I think I'm going to go back to them now that I've got a little more playtime in. heroes leading their own individual armies?Ĥ) So far, I really enjoy Assembly and D'Var.
The Spacers look badass but don't know how useful they are.Ģ) For landmarks, is it better to load up a stack of heroes to take it or just one of my regular armies?ģ) I feel like I know the answer to this, but what are y'alls thoughts on running a stack of heroes vs. The Paragon units look cool but I feel like my DVar units are better. A friend recommended this due to my love of Endless Legend/Endless Space/(Insert Other 4X Games Here).ġ) Is it possible to befriend or integrate multiple NPC factions? Also, what exactly does the integrate level mean? At that point, can I basically buy their sectors/dwellings, or if I go to war with a group, can I take over their territories or just occupy them forever? Finally, what NPC factions should I just not bother with? I really like the Psi Fish units mixed into my groups. Haven't played any of the AoW series before, but now I feel like I need to.
